Uses
-
-
Resins:
-
Resins, obtained from the condensation of p-phenylphenol with for-maldehyde, are oil-soluble and resistible to alkalis, moisture and chemical attack.
They are, for filters, insulating paints, under coating of machinery and equipment, and adhesives.
-
Dyeing carriers:
-
p-Phenylphenol is used as a carrier in the dyeing and printing of synthetic fibers, especially polyester fibers.
-
Surface active agents:
-
Oxyethylated p-phenylphenols are useful as nonionic surface active agents and are improved on heat-resistance for other nonionic surface active agents.
Furthermore with ethyleneoxide to give emulsifier's for pesticides and dispersants for pigments. These have excellent properties.
-
Antioxidant:
-
Tert-butylated p-phenylphenol and a condensate of p-phenylphenol formaldehyde are possessed of antioxidant properties.
Handling Precautions
-
p-Phenylphenol has a low degree of toxicity for humans, but in case of handling, inhalation of the dust should be avoided, however the wearing of mush', gloves and goggless is recommended.
Packages
-
p-Phenylphenol is supplied in a one-ply polyethylene one-ply almi-coated kraft paper and four-ply kraft paper sacks each containing 20 kgs.net.
